Beta Cinema's 'Operation Napoleon' Sequel Scores Multiple Presales
Beta Cinema has secured a series of key international presales for the upcoming Nordic conspiracy thriller, 'Operation Napoleon - Tears of the Wolf'. The film is currently in production across Finland, Iceland, and Germany, and has already garnered significant interest from distributors worldwide.
The rights for North America have been acquired by Magnolia Pictures, with additional deals concluded for the UK and Ireland (Signature Entertainment), France (Mediawan), Spain (Twelve Oaks), and Poland (Hagi Film).
This sequel is a follow-up to the successful 'Operation Napoleon', which sold to over 40 territories, including the U.S. (Magnolia), and was a major hit in Germany in 2023. The English-language sequel reunites a talented cast, including Vivian Ólafsdóttir (It Hatched), Jack Fox (Riviera), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Severance, True Detective). Returning to direct is Jyri Kähönen (Trackers, Bordertown), from a screenplay by Marteinn Thorisson and Tom Weston-Jones (True Things, Warrior, Copper). The cast is further strengthened by the addition of Laura Birn (Void, The Crow, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Foundation).
In the film, Ólafsdóttir stars as Kristin Jóhannesdóttir, a lawyer who becomes entangled in an international conspiracy after being falsely accused of murder. The sequel follows Kristin and her team as they embark on a quest to find the mythical 'Tears of the Wolf', a cache of Nazi diamonds hidden during World War II. After a murder witness, Kristin uncovers encrypted codes and musical clues, leading the group on a journey across Iceland, Finland, and Germany. The story climaxes in a tense confrontation set in Helsinki's wartime bunkers and the Finnish archipelago.
The production team behind this ambitious project includes Anita Elsani and Alexander Klein from Germany's Splendid Entertainment, Kjartan Thor Thordarson from Sagafilm (Sweden and Iceland), and Eero Hietala and Sara Norberg from Take Two Studios (Finland), with Elsani Film serving as a co-producer. Sam Film will handle the theatrical release in Iceland, Splendid Film in Germany, and Cinemanse in Finland.
Beta Cinema will be presenting the first promo reel of 'Operation Napoleon - Tears of the Wolf' at the American Film Market this week, generating buzz and anticipation among industry professionals.
